JANUARY 2027 - International Volunteering in Africa (Ruhija, Uganda) [7 days]

We are looking for committed, passionate people ready to transform lives. A unique two-week opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the heart of Africa and collaborate on a project with real impact.

In the green gorilla mountains of Ruhija, on the edge of the iconic Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, lies the Ruhija Orphanage Little Angels project, led by Happy Kyoheirwe and her local team. A space dedicated to providing love, education, food, and shelter to dozens of vulnerable children from the rural Bakiga and Batwa communities. At Salvaje Viajando, we promote ethical, horizontal, and real-impact volunteering to build bridges, contribute your tools, and learn daily from the spirit of resilience and community that inspires this beautiful project.

Schedule of Activities The schedule includes 5 days of volunteering at the Orphanage/school and 2 free days for Gorilla trekking and/or other local hikes (waterfalls, etc.). Activities will be adapted to the Gorilla trekking reservation date (if applicable) and the needs of the institution. Broadly speaking, they will be:

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Educational Support and Classes: Assist local teachers in the classrooms, supporting subjects such as English, math, artistic expression, music, physical education, or teaching Spanish.

• Creative and Recreational Workshops: Organize group dynamics, playground games, sports activities, theater, or drawing to foster the children's emotional and social development.

• Daily Care and Interaction: Accompany the orphanage's routine (meal preparation, free play time, afternoon homework support, and affective care).

• Community and Infrastructure Projects: Collaborate on painting initiatives, school maintenance, organic gardens, or community projects driven by Happy.

Program Investment Price per person: 750 USD (flights not included)
